Gallic 'battle magic'
Inspired by the adventures of Asterix, PastMaster cooks up a heady brew to get the indomitable Gauls pumped for action

Magic potion: energising
Hoping to bump into France’s most famous comic strip heroes, Tan heads for ancient Gaul in Monday’s edition of PastMaster.
Knowing Asterix and Obelix used magic strength potion to duff up the Romans on a regular basis, Tan considers whether this could work in real life.
But what are the ingredients for magic potion? And are strength and confidence enough to overcome Caesar’s troops?
Tune in to PastMaster next week to find out…

Gauls: ready for anything
Levelling up

End of level bosses: intimidating
Anyone who’s a regular PastMaster listener may know we’re on an eternal quest to fashion a game that’s neither too hard nor too easy.
We’ve alighted on what we have dubbed ‘Goldilocks mode’ that seems to have a good mix of light and dark. But we want to embrace video game culture a bit more and make the game more challenging as you progress up the levels.
Stay tuned in our coming episodes for games that start out on beginner level but quickly ratchet up the tension and stakes as we approach the end of game boss…

PastMaster Boss Mode: as you level up, your enemies get tougher
AI in the news

Robot DJs: clumsy and repetitive
An Aussie radio station secretly used an AI host for six months without letting anyone know.
The CADA station didn’t break any rules but it has faced backlash for not disclosing it was using an AI to fake a host.
The station fessed up after listeners spotted that the host, called ‘Thy’, said certain words that sounded exactly the same every time.
Personally I’m not against an AI DJ as long as it uses a cool robot voice when it speaks to listeners.
