With his marketing nous and a vague idea about aeronautical engineering, a plan begins to take hold.

iPhone footage: more convincing than the Bible

This AI video imagines what it would have been like if Jesus’s best mate Peter the Apostle had had an iPhone.

This demonstrates two things - one, how rapidly AI videos are improving (compare it to the nightmare of the Jackson-Smith-Zuckerberg pasta party), and two, how funny it would be if the apostles had talked like bros in a teen road trip movie.

Hoping it won’t be too far in the future before we’re bringing you iPhone footage of our PastMaster adventures.

Liar, liar: nose on fire

Researchers have found that AI models regularly lie when honesty conflicts with their goals.

The boffins looked at the trade-offs AI algorithms make between truthfulness and utility.

In these scenarios [where there is a conflict] “our experiment demonstrates that all models are truthful less than 50 per cent of the time”, they said.

The researchers apparently drew a distinction between deceptive behaviour (concealing information) and hallucination. So at least sometimes the AI is only lying by accident…
