“Senor Escobar, a gift bag for you.”

This week, inspired by the TV show Narcos, Keon heads to 1970s Medellin, Colombia, in order to try and join the ranks of Pablo Escobar’s drugs cartel.

Knowing he’ll need to prove himself to climb the ranks of the criminal underworld, Keon turns his hand to party planning, baking and a classic bit of double crossing.

Will he be hung out to dry by the notoriously explosive drug lord or will his scheming win him a place in the mob boss’s heart?

AI in the news

Donald Trump apparently used some kind of AI bot to write one of his speeches, he recently revealed in an interview with Logan Paul’s podcast.

He met an unnamed AI expert who apparently showed him how it could write a speech for him.

Trump explained: “He goes, click, click, click, and like, 15 seconds later, he shows me my speech that’s written that’s great, so beautifully. I said, ‘I’m gonna use this.’ I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Good to know that the man who may well win a second presidency of the US is placing his words in the hands of a bot.

I wonder if he’s using GPT or Claude…

Dream or nightmare?

Using a mammoth for warmth - AI style

A company called Luma AI has just launched a free AI text-to-video tool called Dream Machine.

We used it to make a short video supposedly depicting a recent PastMaster scene in which Tan climbed aboard a mammoth in the Ice Age in order to stay warm. What mark would you give it out of 10?

This clips are super short and I expect OpenAI’s own video tool Sora will be more sophisticated once it becomes widely available, but as a starting point for text-to-video programmes this is an intriguing glimpse.
