Meta glasses: is this cool?

Billionaire tech prat Mark Zuckerberg this week showed off his new ‘augmented reality glasses’ and also announced that Meta AI will be able to talk in the voice of Dame Judi Dench or the wrestler John Cena.

“I think that voice is going to be a way more natural way of interacting with AI than text," he said.

Since the creepily neutral HAL 9000 in Space Odyssey there has been a rich tradition in mild mannered voices for psychotic robots. Perhaps Dame Judi and John will inject an illusion of human warmth into our robot servants.

Not for me. I like my android butlers cold and creepy, so I’ll always remember exactly what they are – emotionless killbots.

Angry TV chef Gordon Ramsay is the subject of this week’s AI video nightmare.

I imagine this is the sort of thing that haunts every trainee cook’s dreams.
